Rage Against The "Sugar Milk"

On my personal blog, Clark Kent's Lunchbox I posted an entry entitled, "Why I Hate Danny Evans." Maybe you've heard of Danny Evans, but for those who have not, Danny recently released a book, Rage Against the Meshugenah which chronicles his experiences suffering through male depression after losing his job. Danny, who is widely known in the blogging community as Dad Gone Mad, does an incredible job in telling of his journey, and he does so with humor, humility and honesty.

I couldn't wait to read the book from the minute I heard about it almost a year ago. And I wasn't disappointed either given my own bouts of depression which I also talk about in one chapter of Sugar Milk. But one chapter is nothing compared to the depth of meaning Danny goes into throughout his book. In fact, as I listened to Danny on a live radio interview he explained that there really were no books beyond those of a clinical perspective that dealt with male depression. Since its release, Rage has sparked a dialogue on the topic with many coming forward to talk of their own struggles. Danny deserves a massive amount of credit for sharing his story and chipping away at the stigmas associated with mental illness.

Of course, when you claim to hate someone who is so respected in the world of dad/mom blogging, be prepared for some unexpected attention, like say, Danny Evans himself showing up to leave a comment. Gracious as ever, Danny not only was a good sport, but he also offered his support for Sugar Milk. I think his exact words were something to the effect of:

"I swear on my right nut that when Sugar Milk is available to the public, I will pimp that sumbitch like a whore with three nipples."

Now that's marketing people! But until the day when said superfluous nipple is unveiled, get a copy of Rage Against the Meshugenah. (And thanks Danny for the offer to plug the book. Pounding my own chest is not my strong suit.)
